At Propest Bird Control, we've been solving bird problems for homeowners, businesses and contractors since 1996. Whether you're dealing with pigeons roosting on a residential ledge or large-scale gull activity across a commercial rooftop, we have the expertise and the right solution for the job.

We offer three core bird-proofing systems, each suited to different situations, levels of bird pressure and property types. Where needed, we'll combine methods to deliver the most effective and cost-efficient outcome for your building.

Anti Perch Bird Spikes

Anti-perch spikes are one of the most common and cost-effective bird proofing solutions available. Installed on ledges, sills, parapets, pipes, roof leading edges and more, they prevent birds from landing and settling without causing them any harm. Available in plastic or stainless steel, and suitable for pigeons and gulls alike.

Bird Netting

Bird netting is the most effective form of bird proofing and our go-to recommendation for high-pressure situations — particularly where birds are actively roosting overnight or nesting. Nets can cover anything from a single ledge to an entire roof, balcony, lightwell or building elevation, and with a lifespan of up to 10 years, they represent excellent long-term value.

Tensioned Wire System

The tensioned wire system — also known as a post and wire or sprung wire system — is the most discreet bird deterrent available. Virtually invisible once installed, it's ideal for prestigious buildings, listed structures and heritage sites where appearance is paramount. Best suited to lower-pressure situations where birds are perching during the day rather than roosting.

Why Bird Control Matters

Bird infestations are more than just a nuisance. Left unaddressed, they can cause serious and costly problems:

  • Property damage — bird droppings are highly acidic and will degrade stonework, metalwork, roofing membranes and paintwork over time
  • Health risks — droppings can harbour fungi such as Aspergillus, which produces airborne spores linked to respiratory conditions, including histoplasmosis. Birds can also carry parasites and other pathogens
  • Slip hazards — accumulated droppings on walkways, steps and car parks create a significant slip-and-fall risk
  • Business disruption — birds nesting in or around commercial premises can damage equipment, contaminate stock and create compliance issues

Why Choose a Professional?

DIY bird control products are widely available, but without the right knowledge of bird behaviour, access equipment and fixing techniques, they often fail to solve the problem — or make it worse. As specialists with nearly 30 years of experience, we assess each site individually and recommend only what's needed. Our team is fully insured, IPAF-trained and accredited, and we work with everything from standard ladders to abseiling rigs and mobile elevated platforms to ensure a safe, thorough installation.
