Project:

During 2015 extensive refurbishment works were to be carried out on the building which required the removal of the existing pigeon proofing systems. The brief here was to replace on a ‘’like for like’’ basis.

Works carried out

50mm stone coloured pigeon netting was installed to decorative features at the top of the building to the front and rear. The net was held in place by a perimeter stainless steel wire frame.

The tensioned wire system was used to protect the other ledges on the building. Due to the depths of some of the areas to protect, multiple layers of wires were used to give full protection. (Over 2000 metres of wires were used on this project).

Where the posts could not be drilled into the stonework glue on bases were installed to hold the posts in place.

Brief:

PBC Ltd was asked to solve the pigeon infestation on the roof of the hotel, which houses the plant and the AC units. Although pigeon proofing has been attempted in the past, only small areas have been addressed and the results had just moved the birds elsewhere.

We recommended that the entire roof was netted and the gaps between the panels and the ground were blocked using a 50mm weld mesh. As access was still required to the top of the plant and the perimeter panels were of differing heights, sections of unistrut acted as support structures.

In all, approximately 500m² of 50mm x 50mm pigeon netting was used and the client was happy with the works
